The future looks brighter (and lighter) as we near the completion of our Proxxima™ systems phase one scale-up, the first major step toward bringing our Proxxima™ business to global scale. Backed by the know-how of ExxonMobil scientists and engineers, the innovative technology demonstrates how we continue to find new uses for hydrocarbons.

What are Proxxima™ systems?

Proxxima™ systems are a cutting-edge polyolefin thermoset resin technology that can provide stronger, lighter, and better corrosion-resistant solutions compared to conventional materials. From automotive, infrastructure, and coatings to subsea piping and wind energy industries, we’re helping pave the way toward a lower-carbon future. Proxxima™ systems have results showing ~60% lower lifecycle GHG emissions from production to point of sale than comparable epoxy resins.1

Phase one moves toward completion

Phase one of three is nearing completion with two sites heading toward startup, meaning we’re making strides in our progress to lower GHG emissions and bring global scale to new technologies.

Blending facility

We’ve completed the retrofit and expansion of our ExxonMobil-owned and operated blending facility in Huntsville, Texas, and the site officially began operations in June 2025. This facility has a capacity of 35-thousand metric tons per year and, coupled with our raw material site, we will be able to meet that capacity; helping us meet customer demand and provide valuable solutions to many industries.

Raw material facility

Later this year, our raw material facility located near Baytown, Texas, is expected to come online. The site, funded by ExxonMobil, will support our blending facility in reaching its nameplate capacity.

Increasing our capacity is an essential step as ExxonMobil continues to play an important role during the energy transition. Between the blending and raw material facilities, along with the opening of our Proxxima™ systems lab at the Baytown Technology and Engineering Complex earlier this year, we are on our way to constructing a better future.

Phase one of three is nearing completion (0:30)
